de gagner des terres sur l&rsquo;eau, les polders rh\u00e9nans, sont des ouvrage de r\u00e9tention des crues du Rhin. Ils sont inond\u00e9s en cas de crues. A Erstein le Polder de 600 ha est capable de stocker jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 7,8 millions de m3 d&rsquo;eau en moins de 15 heures. Le Polder \u00e0 Erstein ne repr\u00e9sente que 3 % de la capacit\u00e9 d&rsquo;\u00e9cr\u00eatement n\u00e9cessaire \u00e0 une protection bicentennale des populations entre Iffezheim et Worms. On est donc encore loin des 270 millions de m\u00b3 qu&rsquo;il faudrait retenir sur le Rhin sup\u00e9rieur et pour en abaisser la ligne d&rsquo;eau de 70 cm en cas de crue.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Selon les statistiques, cette fonction d&rsquo;\u00e9cr\u00eatement des crues ne devrait \u00eatre activ\u00e9e qu&rsquo;une fois tous les dix ans. En revanche, il est pr\u00e9vu que le polder d&rsquo;Erstein, qui rec\u00e8le une r\u00e9serve naturelle, soit submerg\u00e9 une fois par an. G\u00e9n\u00e9ralement au moment du \u00ab Rhin des cerises \u00bb (juin-juillet). Ceci \u00e0 des fins \u00e9cologiques, pour pr\u00e9server la for\u00eat humide voire r\u00e9tablir des \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes alluviaux. Mais les effets pervers des travaux d&rsquo;am\u00e9nagement se sont rapidement fait sentir. La correction op\u00e9r\u00e9e d\u00e8s le XIXe si\u00e8cle a raccourci le fleuve d&rsquo;une douzaine de kilom\u00e8tres. Elle l&rsquo;a aussi lib\u00e9r\u00e9 de ses obstacles naturels. C&rsquo;est pourquoi, le courant s&rsquo;acc\u00e9l\u00e8re et que le lit s&rsquo;\u00e9rode. Il porte alors sa huppe noire redress\u00e9e. Ses favoris, d\u2019un joli brun orang\u00e9, s&rsquo;\u00e9talent au-dessus de son long cou d\u2019un blanc immacul\u00e9. La parade nuptiale des Gr\u00e8bes hupp\u00e9s donne souvent l\u2019impression d\u2019assister \u00e0 un ballet. Une sorte de quadrille aux figures r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9es. M\u00eame si elle n&rsquo;est pas tr\u00e8s ordonn\u00e9es, elle compte pr\u00e8s de 400 esp\u00e8ces v\u00e9g\u00e9tales dont 57 vari\u00e9t\u00e9s d&rsquo;arbres et d&rsquo;arbustes qui prolif\u00e8rent ici avec des tailles inhabituelles. On y rep\u00e8re donc des sir\u00e8nes d&rsquo;alerte, et il est parfois ferm\u00e9 par des grilles en cas d&rsquo;annonce de mise en eau prochaine.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Mais n&rsquo;h\u00e9sitez pas \u00e0 vous y promener.
