Il est connut pour son H\u00f4tel de Ville dont la r\u00e9novation s&rsquo;est achev\u00e9e au mois de Juillet 2008. Celui ci a la particularit\u00e9 d&rsquo;avoir une tourelle. Rajout\u00e9e en 1619, elle est orn\u00e9e d&rsquo;un \u00ab\u00a0Jacquemart\u00a0\u00bb, une horloge avec des personnages articul\u00e9s qui indiquent les heures.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section tourn\u00e9e du veilleur de nuit, qui clamait ou chantait les heures durant la nuit. A la fin du Moyen-\u00c2ge, apparut le JACQUEMART. A droite on d\u00e9couvre \u00ab\u00a0<em>Prudentia<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0. C&rsquo;est la sagesse ou le chevalier, personnifi\u00e9 par le Prince-Ev\u00eaque de Strasbourg (l&rsquo; Archiduc L\u00e9opold d&rsquo; Autriche). Avec son marteau il frappe les quarts d&rsquo; heure.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>A gauche vous avez sans doute reconnu la \u00ab\u00a0<em>Mort<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0, repr\u00e9sent\u00e9e par un squelette. Elle tourne le sablier toutes les heures.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>En haut, le personnage appel\u00e9 <em>Stubbehansel<\/em>, par les habitants de <strong>Benfeld<\/strong>, repr\u00e9sente la \u00ab\u00a0<em>Justice<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0. Il est personnifi\u00e9 par le Schulteiss (Maire ou Pr\u00e9v\u00f4t du Moyen-Age) avec son b\u00e2ton pr\u00e9v\u00f4tal dans la main droite. Toutes les heures, il ouvre et ferme la bouche. Il monte et baisse \u00e9galement le bras droit autant de fois qu&rsquo; il y a d&rsquo;heures. Dans la main gauche, il tient une bouse, qui rappellerait la trahison du <em>Stubbehansel<\/em> en 1331.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Entre les deux personnages, se trouvent : Un petit cadran qui indique les phases lunaires. Il y a aussi un grand cadran qui indique l&rsquo;heure officielle. Elle est situ\u00e9e juste \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de l&rsquo;\u00e9glise. Je me demandais quel \u00e9tait le lien entre elle et le village. En fait, c&rsquo; est en 1923, que la ville \u00e0 fait \u00e9riger un monument aux morts. est pas d&rsquo; accord avec la p\u00e9riode). Le \u00ab\u00a0Stubbehansel\u00a0\u00bb \u00e9tait en fait un tra\u00eetre \u00e0 sa ville. Hans (Jean) \u00e9tait charg\u00e9 du service aupr\u00e8s du conseil de la ville. Il disposait donc de toutes les cl\u00e9s des portes fortifi\u00e9es et jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 la moindre poterne des enceintes. En 1331, Benfeld est assi\u00e9g\u00e9e par les troupes du duc de Wurtemberg. Les habitants r\u00e9sistent courageusement et le si\u00e8ge s&rsquo;\u00e9tire en longueur. Cependant l&rsquo;ennemi r\u00e9ussit \u00e0 soudoyer le Stubbehansel. Moyennant une grosse somme d&rsquo;argent, Hans se glisse en pleine nuit pour ouvrir les portes du village. Il profite, \u00e0 ce moment l\u00e0, de l&rsquo; absence de l&rsquo; \u00e9v\u00eaque de Strasbourg. Gr\u00e2ce aux informations du tra\u00eetre et aux portes laiss\u00e9es ouvertes et sans surveillance, les mercenaires du duc s&rsquo;introduisent dans Benfeld.
